It’s needles, thread, and stray buttons. The Royal Dansk sewing kit is a universal canon event for Latin American and Asian households, and at Kara Beauty, we decided it was time to turn that nostalgia into major glam.
It All Started at Happy Hour…
Like all the best ideas, this one started over drinks. The Kara team was hanging out after hours, catching vibes and decompressing, when one of our coworkers came up with an idea and joked: “Wouldn’t it be hilarious if we did a cookie tin palette? Imagine the surprise when you open it and find pigment instead of thread!”
At first, we laughed it off. We thought, “There’s no way Scott is going to go for this.” But our manager, our voice of reason and hype-woman, wasn't having it. She looked us dead in the eye and said, “No. We are making this happen.”
From Brainstorm to Blue Tin
The very next morning, the team went into full-on creator mode. We knew this couldn’t be just any collaboration it had to be the collab. We wanted to honor that "growing up" experience that so many of us share. It’s more than just cookies; it’s a childhood memory tucked away in a blue tin.
Our first drop was a hit, but our Kara Babes are vocal! You loved the nostalgia but wanted shades that could be worn on the daily. The Cookie Palette is back but now as an official collaboration with Royal Dansk® and she’s more wearable than ever. We’ve curated a mix of stunning neutrals and pops of color that work for every day, while keeping that signature high-pigment payoff you crave. The "Surprise" is still there, we leveled up the packaging to really lean into the meme. When you first open the palette, you’ll find a protective sheet printed with all the sewing supplies (shoutout to the thimbles and thread!). Lift it up, and you’ll reveal the gorgeous shades underneath. No sewing skills required, just pure artistry.
